Coach Faults Eguavoen’s Appointment As S’Eagles Coach
The Head Coach of SKE Under-16 Football Academy of Port Harcourt, Tonye Omulabo, has faulted the appointment of Augustine Eguavoen as the interim technical adviser of Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF).
According to him, the timing of sacking the former Super Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr, was wrong, adding that the sacking should have been done before the last qualified match against Central Africa Republic (CAR).
Omulabo, made the assertion on Monday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
The coach explained that, he had never been a fan of Gernot Rohr, but bringing Eguavoen to the team at this moment is inappropriate, adding that, the Eagles job has grown passed the level of Eguavoen.
“The timing was wrong, they should have sacked Rohr before our last qualifier game.
I had never been a fan of Gernot Rohr.
Technically the choice of Eguavoen is not a good one.
If I may judge by person to person, I should have preferred Rohr to remain,” Omulabo said.
He further said that hence they have given Eguavoen the job, let us see what he can do. Let us give the benefit of doubt,” Omualabo said.
