The Director of Vendyke FC of Port Harcourt, Benjamin Iyama, has blamed the League Management Company (LMC), for the not too impressive performance outing of Rivers United FC in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC).
He stated that the non commencement of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) was one of the major factors that caused the early exit of the team in the continent.
Iyama said this in a telephone interview with Tidesports shortly after Rivers United FC was eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup by Al Masry of Egypt 1-0 (aggregate 2-2) last Sunday.
He streesed that LMC was one of the major causes  of  Nigeria teams not performing well in the continent, saying that it is difficult to perform well when there is no active competitive football.
“Friendly matches alone cannot guarantee you to do well in such a competition. The players need active football competition to be informed. Football business is a very big business more than the palm oil, quote me anywhere in the world.
It is high time for LMC  to sit up to ensure that NPFL has specific date to commence the League,” Iyama said.
