The absence of the complainant in court, yesterday stalled proceedings in a case of alleged assault leveled against the Chief Security Officer of Etched Local Government Area.
The complainant, Mrs. Cynthia Nwala who is also the Leader of Etche Legislative Assembly was said to be absent in court because of traffick gridlock.
Consequently, the prosecuting counsel, Wilson Isaiah, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), sought the leave of the court for an adjournment
ASP Isaiah told the court that though the case was scheduled for hearing, the witness was not in court and had informed him that she was held up in a traffic gridlock on her way to court.
The defence counsel, Daisy Nwokedi did not oppose the request of the prosecution.
However, she told the court that since both parties in the matter were of the same political family, there were behind the scene moves for settlement between the parties.
The Tide reports that after listening to the counsel, the presiding Chief Magistrate, I. F Iyabo adjourned the matter to December 15, 2021 for hearing
Speaking with journalists outside the courtroom, the defence counsel, Daisy Nwokedi claimed that her client was innocent of all the accusations against him, until court considers the facts and evidences and makes a declaration otherwise.
Recall that the Leader of Etche Local Government Legislative Assembly, Mrs. Cynthia Nwala was allegedly beaten and stripped by thugs suspected to have been supervised by the defendant on October, 2021 in Etche Local Government Area.Court Adjourns Trial Of CSO To Dec15
