Bayelsa FRSC Marks World Accident Victims Day

The Bayelsa State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has reeled out activities to commemorate the 2021 edition of the World day for road traffic accident victims.
The Tide which monitored the events in Yenagoa, the state capital reports that the state’s Sector Commander, Ibrahim Alhassan Usman, in company of men and officers of the command were set to hold both Juma’at prayers and church service on Friday and Sunday as part of activities marking the day, respectively.
Speaking with newsmen, the sector commander described the day as unique, ,saying it was a time of sober reflection for  the trio of the FRSC, drivers and passengers as, according to him, the corps would seize the opportunity to again carry out more public enlightenment programmes on the causes of road traffic accident.
The Tide further reports that the United Nations had earlier in 2005 set aside a day for the remembrance of road traffic accident victims.
“To commemorate the day, this year, the FRSC organised a week long activity with the theme: ‘Act for Low Speed/ Act For Low Speed Streets, “With this slogan, remember, support, act to remember the lost souls and sensitise the living on the need to stem the tide of road traffic crashes”.
