Army Reassures On Crime Fighting

The General Officer Commanding ( GOC), 6 Division of the  Nigerian Army,  Port Harcourt, Major Gen Mohammed Sani, has reaffirmed his commitment to fight crime in the state and its environs.
Sani made this known  during a Town Hall meeting in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council at the weekend.
The Tide learnt that the Town Hall meeting was  part of Operation Still Water Exercise, flagged off on October  4, 2021.
Represented by the Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Danja Mohammed, the GOC said that the meeting was aimed at strengthening civil/ military cooperation and as well, to deliver talks by resource persons on the need to stay out of trouble.
According to him, it was  an avenue to understand the impacts of the  operation to the communities and as well, make useful contributions.
He further declared his readiness to fight against illegal oil bunkery, kidnapping and other forms of criminal activities bedevilling the area. 
 Achieving this, he said, will  require total collaboration of all the relevant stakeholders in the area.
The GOC  also  hinted that the ‘Operation Still Water Exercise’ was formed in order to enable the people have a hitch free  Yuletide celebration.
Describing security as  everyone’s business, he called on  all hands to be on deck so as to hit the target.
Earlier, the Chairman ,Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government  Council, Hon. Vincent Job, had expressed joy over the timely response of the army to addressing security threats in the area, especially the activities of herders despite bann on open grazing by the state government.
Job, who commended the GOC  for organising such programme for his people, assured him of any support that will  brace up their operations in the area.
 Meanwhile, he has said that his administration had procured two Hilux vehicles to enhance army operations within his short period in office.
