Emohua-Kalabari Road: Four LG Bosses Strategise On Security …Assure LCC Of Staff, Equipment Safety

The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, last Monday, played host to his counterparts; Hon. Rowland Sekibo, Hon. Onengiyeofori George and Dr.C hidi Lloyd of Akuku-Toru, Asari-Toru and Emohua LGAs, respectively.
The meeting was in continuation of the ongoing consultation and collaboration in concerted efforts aimed at providing adequate security along the Emohua-Kalabari Road, where pockets of criminal activities occur occasionally.
The latest incident was the abduction of an expatriate staff attached to Lubrik Construction Company (LCC), handling the construction of the Trans-Kalabari Road.
The council chairmen had upon the dastardly act, swung into action with a resolution to take security measures, including setting up a joint security outfit, to complement the conventional security agencies, with a view to forestalling future occurrence in the areas.
Briefing newsmen on behalf of the chairmen at the end of the meeting, the AKULGA Council Boss, Hon. Rowland Sekibo, stated that the chairmen were taking a holistic view of the situation, in order to adopt the best approach to curb the menace, adding that the nature of a problem determines its solution.
He said that the ongoing collaboration had started yielding positive fruits, as the abducted expatriate had regained his freedom, following the mounted pressure of the chairmen.
“In every problem, the solution is the nature of the problem, so, we have looked at it.
“There are a lot of things that cause insecurity, like the deplorable state of the road, overgrown bushes on the road path, inadequate manpower, in terms of the conventional security agencies.
“So, everything is holistically being looked at, and we are coming up with a solution. By the grace of God, the solutions would be made public soon.
“You will see that the collaboration and synergy are yielding fruits, because by the grace of God, the expatriate that was kidnapped has been released, because of the pressures that are coming from this collaboration,” Sekibo stated.
The council chairmen, who later went on inspection to the construction site of the Trans-Kalabari Road, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work done.
Speaking to the site HSE Officer, Mr. Progress Friday, the council chairmen assured the construction company of continued collaboration and improved security to prevent future recurrence.
