AFAN Wants Farmers To Access Covid-19 Loan

The State Chairman of All Farmers Assocation of Nigeria (AFAN), Chief Ofimaobari Igwe has called on farmers in the State to access the Covid-19 loan being given to rural farmers by the Federal Government to develop their farms.
Igwe said this at the just-concluded World Food Day celebration in Port Harcourt.
He said farmers could access up to N500,000 from the loan scheme
The AFAN chairman also commended the State Government for its support to farmers in the state.
According to him, “As a matter of fact, I have to call on farmers in Rivers State to work with the current administration to improve their condition”.
He also urged farmers to identify with the Association to enable it achieve its objective.
“I urge all our farmers to identify with us, so that when the glory will come it will get across to them”.
Igwe also called for adequate support from both the State and Federal Government to farmers in the State.
“We need adequate support and seriousness in the farming industry, with adequate support all farmers can grow enough food to feed the State and the nation”.
He blamed the high cost of food stuff in the country on the Covid-19 pandemic and experessed the hope that as more farmers recover from the effect of the pandemic, problem of food scarcity will be checked.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria has called for the implementation of the Law Against Open grazing in the state.
The AFAN chairman regretted that despite the existence of the law in the state, herdsmen are still going about with their cattle destroying farms.
He said, the implementation of the law would restore confidence in the farmers, thereby boosting food production in the state.
He used the occasion to call on farmers in the State to take advantage of the numerous policies of the government to improve their farming business.
