Betsy Obaseki Tournament: Part Of Preparations Ahead CAF Women’s Champions League – Okon
Head Coach of Confederation of Africa Football Women’s Champions League flag bearers, Rivers Angels FC, Edwin Okon, has said that he was simply looking forward to working on his team ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions in Egypt.
“First and foremost, I want to commend the organisers of this tournament, it’s a good one for the development of women’s football in the country,” he said.
“My team and I are in Benin to intensify our champions league prepara-tions, so we’ll be taking one game at a time.
“This tournament will help in strengthening my squad and also prepare the mindset of my girls. It will equally put them in a competition mood.
“The Nigeria Women Football League Premiership is yet to kickoff the next campaign, so participating in competitions like this will be very helpful,” Okon added.
Rivers Angels will be in Egypt for the CAF Women’s Champions League slated to hold from November 5 to 19.
Angel’s team comprising of 29 players and 11 officials arrived Benin City on Sunday for the pre-season event which began September 27, to end on October 3.
Rivers Angels were grouped alongside Fortress Ladies FC (Edo State) Royal Queens, Delta Queens (Delta State) and FC Robo (Lagos State) in Group B, after the Live draws which was conducted inside the new Festival Hall of the Government House, Benin City.
