Squash Clinic Ends In Lagos
Participants at the three-week squash coaching clinic have commended the Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) led by Boye Oyerinde for the opportunity to improve their knowledge on the sport.
The course was handled by a United Kingdom-based experi-enced coach, Matt McFahn in Lagos
The participants comprising coaches and players took part in the NSF World Squash level 2 and 3 coaches training held at both the Ikoyi Club and Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.
Tidesports source reports that the course was to bring participants up to speed with the latest trends of coaching to aid the growth of the game in Nigeria.
At the certificate presentation held at the squash section of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Clubs, some of the participants shared their thought about the training.
Chairman, caretaker committee, NSF, Boye Oyerinde said the federation is aware of the importance of such programmes, hence, the need for more of such.
McFahn believes Mcfahn has the ability to raise athletes who can make the podium at any major championship but needs to familiarise with the current rules and basics of squash.
Over 30 squash coaches from across the country participated in the coaching clinic in Lagos.
The federation is billed to hold two tournaments in Abuja and Abeokuta respectively. The events will serve as a test-run for the coaches to practise all they were taught in the seminar.
