Association Plans Empowerment For UNIPORT Women

University of Port Harcourt Women Association (UPWA) says it will work towards the empowerment of women in the university.
President of the association, Dr Udeme Owunari Georgewill said this during the inaugural meeting of the association in Port Harcourt.
She said the mission of the association is to leverage on the already existing gains of the association by building formidable women association and harnessing individual potentials for the collective growth of the womenfolk.
Mrs Georgewill also listed the focus of the association to include, improving the welfare of members improving the standard of the UPWA group of schools, while the outreach programmes to female students stated byh former administrations will be sustained Udeme Georgewill also listed their areas to include, skill acquisition fitness, programmes for members of the society.
According to her, “the current economy of our nation demands that we look into multiple streams of securing incomes. Skill acquisition is one sure means of doing that”.
She said conferences and symposia will feature current relevant issues as it applied at the time, both to aid and broaden the knowledge base on issues.
She stressed the need for members to put their hands on the deck to enable the association achieve itst desired objective.
