Akwa United’s Striker Expresses Joy Over League Win
The striker of Akwa United FC, Barine Eko, has expressed joy for winning the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) title for the just concluded 2020/2021 season.
According to him, playing in the NPFL for the first time and winning the league is a thing of joy, adding that the aim of every player is to win the league.
Eko said this lrecently in a chat with Tidesports after a novelty football match in honour of Super Eagles goalkeeper, John Noble, at Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Golden Arrow of South Africa player explained that, it is something enjoyable, saying that by the grace of God hard work pays, so today, he is very happy because Akwa United FC work hard to win the league.
“ It is a thing of joy for winning the NPFL title for my first time of playing in the league.Being a champion is something you work hard for.
“I feel so proud of myself, playing in the NPFL for the very first time and winning the league”, Eko said.
He further explained that the ambition of every good player is to play for the two European clubs.
He stated that playing in the champions league will add to the player’s profile but for him, this is not his first time playing in the CAF champions league.
“I think playing in the CAF Champion league is a stepping stone for success for players.
“For me I have played in European club since 2012 so this is not my first time to play in the CAF Champion league.
“So this is my first time appearing in NPFL and I won the league. Let me say I am so proud of myself and my family,” he said.
