Wike Presents Account Of Stewardship

The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, last week, presented an impressive account of stewardship
to the people of the state.
At the event which held last Monday at Obi Wali International Conference Hall, Port Harcourt, the Governor said his administration had through prudent management of available resources drastically changed the development trajectory of the state for better in the past six years.
The account of stewardship came at the end of over two months non-stop commissioning of projects and flagg-off of new ones initiated in the first two years of his second term in office.
He gave sector by sector account of the gains of his administration across the twenty-three local government areas of the state. 
Of special mention were: the delivery of over one thousand kilometers of trunk A roads, delivery of three of the ten flyover projects, massive sandfilling as part of the land reclamation in coastal Communities and reconstruction of schools at all levels.
In the health sector, Governor Wike listed the delivery of the 132-bed Mother and Child Hospital, new Government House Hospital, establishment of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, among others
The governor stated that the newly inaugurated Cassava Processing Company established by his administration would be used to create wealth, income and jobs for the teeming youths willing to participate in agro- businesses in the state.
The former Governor of the state, Dr Peter Odili who was the father of the day, unveiled a 536-page compendium of Governor Wike’s achievements, and other notable personalities who spoke at the event expressed delight at the Governor’s enviable record of success.
The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, commended the people and residents of the state for their massive turnout during the just concluded commissioning and flagg-off of projects in the 23 local government areas of the state.
The commissioner said the massive turnout of the people was an overwhelming endorsement of the governor’s governance style.
Nsirim said: “ It was evident in all the areas where the projects were sited that the people were happy that the governor was executing people-orriented projects for them.
“The colourful cultural displays and gifts given to the governor and his guests at the various local governments testify of a man loved by his people”.
The commissioner also commended the security agencies, traditional rulers, women and youths for making the anniversary activities hitch-free.
 Nsirim who described most of the projects as legendary, said they would impact positively on the lives of the people of the state.
He hailed Governor Wike for demonstrating clearly that he was out to honour the social contract with people of the state as contained in the NEW Rivers Vision.
Another major event last week in Brick House was the flag-off of the construction of the Port Harcourt campus of the Nigerian Law School.
Speaking at the event, the Rivers State Governor assured that his administration would complete and hand over a brand new campus of the school record time.
Wike who noted that Rivers people would be the greatest beneficiaries of the project in terms of employment opportunities and other economic activities it would stimulate.
He said that the Port Harcourt campus of the Nigerian Law School would be part of the contributions of the state government to Legal Education in the country.
The campus which is located at the former premises of the state School of Nursing at Rumueme, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state was officially flagged off by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami ( SAN ) last Saturday.
The Minister was represented by the Chairman, Council of Legal Education, Chief Nnaemeka Ngige (SAN ).
