VC’s Wife Assures UNIPORT Women Of Support
Following the successful inauguration of Prof Owunari Georgewill as the substantive 9th Vice Chancellor, the wife of the VC, University of Port Harcourt, and leader of University of Port Harcourt Women Association, Prof Udeme Owunari-Georgewill has assured a robust working relationship and support to the women of the institution, saying that her leadership in the association would promote improved welfare for the women within the five years’ tenure of her administration
Udeme, an associate professor, stated this shortly after the inauguration of her husband, Prof Owunari Abraham Georgewill as the 9th Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba at the Council Chambers, Abuja Campus in Port Harcourt, last Tuesday.
She expressed gratitude to God Almighty for making the day a reality, adding that she was enthused because the long journey, accompanied with fervent prayers and hard work, has finally come to pass.
Udeme assured the support of her husband to achieve the goals of his administration through keeping the home-front peaceful, and called on UNIPORT women to rally round her husband in the quest to reposition the institution for greater heights.
“My core mandate is simple: help keep him on track and remind him daily on the programmes he has outlined during his inaugural speech.
“Give him a peaceful home, if there is a peaceful home, there is no task he cannot handle,” she said.
She advised women to eschew distractions, divisions and rancour but should come together as one indivisible entity in other to achieve desired objectives.
