Former Legal Adviser of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Hon Sunny Osondu, has charged the Federal Government to tackle the insecurity threat of the Niger Delta region by Fulani Jihadists to avert anarchy, especially Delta State over the Southern governors insistence on open grazing ban seriously.
Speaking with The Tide recently in Atta, Osondu urged communities in the region to activate their local security apparatus and be prepared to ward off any form of threat to peace and security in their areas.
He appealed to residents of the region to be more vigilant and security conscious, even as he condemned the threat in its entirety and restated his earlier support for the position of the governors to ban open grazing in the South.
The Atta-born political juggernaut tasked security agencies of government in the region not to treat the purported threat with levity, urging them to extend their dragnets to the entire southern states with a view to nipping unwholesome activities of criminal elements in the bud.
Decrying the heightened insecurity across the country, Osondu called on the Federal government to be more decisive in handling security challenges engulfing Nigeria currently.
He admonished President Muhammadu Buhari and the southern governors not to relent in their efforts at fishing out trouble-makers in Nigeria that have vowed to disintegrate the country by all means, instead should beef up security to checkmate the Jihadists and other criminal elements among Nigerians for peace to thrive.
He, however, enjoined the military and other security operatives to wake up from their slumber by protecting the lives and property of Niger Delta citizens, who are currently living by the mercy of God for posterity.
