The Grammy Awards is the most prestigious recognition in the music industry globally. Every year for 62 years, the recording Academy has awarded artists, songs and Albums that deserve recognition with Grammy in several categories.
Recall that earlier this year, Burna Boy and Wizkid became the first artistes to win the Grammy Nigerian Award. Burna Boy won the Best Global Album for his critically acclaimed “Twice As Tall” album which was released in July 2020 just in time for the last year’s submission.
Wizkid, who won the Best Music Video alongside Beyonce for his part on “Brown Skin Girl” will now be looking forward to winning a Grammy in his own right at the next award show.
His critically and commercially successful studio Album “Made in Lagos” was released last October and is eligible to be nominated for the Best Global Album too.
If Wizkid is nominated, his only obstacle will probably be Angelique Kidjo who dropped an album not too long ago. Kidjo who is a five time Grammy Award winner deprived Burna Boy of the Best World Album award in 2019.
Besides, Wizkid, there are definitely other Nigerian artistes who have dropped albums within the past year, who deserve at least to be nominated for the Grammy Awards, one of such artistes is Fireboy, His Sophomore album, Apollo is a solid project in its own right and definitely deserves some accolades.
