PCC Assures More Offices In Rural Areas

The new Federal Commissioner for Public Complaints in Rivers State, Dr. Alpheaus Paul-Worika has said that the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) would interrogate and investigate cases of administrative injustice and also open new offices in the rural areas of the state.
Paul-Worika, who disclosed this during his inaugural meeting with staff of the commission, said opening new PCC offices in more local government areas will ameliorate the office accommodation difficulties being encountered by complainants at the Federal Secretariat in Port Harcourt, and also take the services of the commission outside the state capital.
The commissioner, who is serving his second term, recalled his experiences during his first tenure as the public complaints commissioner for Rivers State, and charged the staff to show more commitment to actualize the mandate of the commission.
He lamented the attitude of some staff against constituted authority in the commission, and warned that acts of misbehaviour would not be condoned.
“For those of you who are still willing to work, my office will always remain open and your welfare will remain paramount but if you are not ready to join in moving the commission forward, then you had better put in for transfer of service,” he stated.
The PCC boss recounted some of his achievements and daunting challenges, and assured of his determination to ensure that the issue of a permanent office would receive the desired action.
He urged staff of the commission to keep abreast of current issues in order to have the requisite information as watchdogs of injustice to handle complaints when they arise.
Responding on behalf of staff, the Deputy Director of Investigations in the commission, Mr Adokiye Iworima, commended the quality of leadership and achievements of the commissioner in his first tenure, and expressed the hope that his new tenure would bring greater achievements to the commission.
