Lawmaker Awards Scholarships To Rivers Indigenes

The lawmaker representing Oyigbo in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Promise Nwankwo, has awarded scholarships to 500 undergraduate students of Rivers State.
A breakdown of the figures shows that 100 of the beneficiaries are from Oyigbo, while 400 are from the rest of the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Nwankwo said, the gesture was to complement the developmental stride, of Governor Wike in the educational sector of the state.
He also said the situation will reduce the burden of parents of the beneficiaries especially at this time of difficulty.
Nwankwo thanked the people of Oyigbo for electing him to the House, adding that he will continue to invest in the educational development of the area.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused and consistent in their educational pursuit, adding that the only way to build a better society is through education.
The lawmaker also thanked Governor Wike for his giant strides in the development of the state and pledged the support and loyalty of Oyigbo people to the administration.
Also speaking, Dr Ojong Samuel of the Institute of Education, University of Benin, thanked the lawmaker for his passion for the educational development of his people.
Samuel also said, the institute will partner with Hon. Nwankwo for the educational development of his constituency.
