Coach Calls On Ex -lnternationals To Support Grassroots Football
The Head Coach of Cleveland FC of Port Harcourt, Emmanuel Aloysius, has called on ex- international football
players from Rivers State to support and sponsor grass-roots football competitions in the state.
He said that if adequate support and proper attention, was given to the grassroots football in Rivers State, no doubt Rivers State will be one of the best in Youth football.
Aloysius stated this, in an exclusive interview with Tidesports on Monday just after his boys defeated Super Strikers FC 5-2 in the ongoing Port Harcourt City League(PHCL) cup at the Joseph Yobo, mini stadium D/ line Port Harcourt.
According to him, grassroots football in the state needs the support and experience of ex- International to build the system to higher level.
“Grassroots football in Rivers State lack sponsor and the experience of ex- International players.
If proper attention are given to the grassroots football in the state our football will grow to the desired level in the state.
Rather, you see them support European football that is a minus to us.
They should support the young ones by organising tournaments,” Aloysius said.
The head coach used the medium to express joy over the performance of his players at the ongoing PHCFL.
“ I am very impressed with the victory today, I think they need to do more in the competition.
We just need to focus and train very well to get more good result in the tournament,” he said.
