Buhari Approves Reconstruction Of Afam Road
The Federal Government has given approval for the complete reconstruction of Afam Road in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This follows President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for 14 additional road projects to be constructed through a Federal Government infrastructure portfolio, the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS).
While granting the approval, the Federal Government directed Transcorp Group to construct the 13.5km Oyigbo-Izuoma-Mirinwayi-Oklama-Afam Road in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The road leads to the critical national power asset: Afam Power plants, including Afam IV built by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) and a cluster of other power plants built by the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government.
Buhari also approved that Dangote Group and MTN Telecommunications have been granted approval by the Federal Government to reconstruct the 110km Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
A statement by the Presidency indicates that, “Dangote Industries Limited is to engage in the construction of the deep seaport access road through Epe to Sagamu-Benin Expressway; the construction of Kaaba-Ekiti Boundary Road in Kogi/Ekiti states; the re-construction of OhaliaArochukwu Road in Abia/AkwaIbom states; and the re-construction of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway Road, Enugu/Anambra states, totalling 271.72km.
“BUA Group is to construct Bode Saadu road and bridges; Kosubosu in Kwara State; Lafiagi road and bridge, Bachita,Kwara State; Eyenkorin road and bridge, Offa in Kwara/Osunstates, and Bukuroroad and bridges, Okuta in Kwara linking to Benin Republic/Osunstates, totalling 294km.
“Access Bank Plc is to construct Oniru axis road of Victoria-Island Lekki traffic circulation (5km) while GZI Industries Ltd is to re-construction of Umueme Village Road, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State (3.7km).
“The Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd. is to construction of Malando-GarinBakaBaka-Ngaskl-Wara road, in Niger/Kebbistates; engage in construction of SabonGariYuni-Shagwa-Auna Road in Niger State (45.42km); and rehabilitation of Mokwa-Nasarawa Road in Niger State. All these total 207.87km” the statement added.
