Abia Warriors’ Victory Excites Coach
Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia’s technical adviser, Imama Amapakabo is relieved after his side put five past Zamfara United in round of 32 fixtures of the Aiteo Cup.
Lukman Bello scored a hattrick while Chukwuemeka Obioma and Fatai Abdullahi added two more goals to send the Abia State based team to the round of 16 of the oldest cup in Nigeria.
Speaking to Tidesports source after the game, Amapakabo said he was delighted with his boys clinical performances in front of goal.
“We really needed to get a win, which we were able to get, we scored some goals. If you saw the game, you would agree that we could have scored 10 goals but we scored 5. Am glad my team has gotten their scoring shoes again. I don’t know but I think this pitch is a blessing for us, because anytime we come here, we score goals . I wish we could carry this pitch to wherever we go”.
On his side’s ambition in the Aiteo Cup, the former Super Eagles assistant coach said: “That’s why we are in the competition. I don’t think we would be here if we couldn’t go all the way, but then, one game at a time. It’s a knockout competition, it’s not like a league that you have second chances”.
