NPFL: Win Against Kano Pillars Is A Morale Booster – Eguma

Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, thrashed Kano Pillars of Kano, 2-0 in the match day 26 of the Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL), at the Adokiye Amiesimaka, Stadium in Port Harcourt. 
Speaking, during his post match interview, shortly after the game, the technical manager of Rivers United FC, Stanley Eguma, stated that the victory over Kano Pillars was a morale booster for his team. 
He stated that knowing the pedigree of Pillars in the NPFL, they had to prepare for the game. 
“It was a tough game, we were prepared for this game, because Kano Pillars is a strong team in the NPFL,” Eguma said.
According to him, after playing, Pillars in the first leg of the season and with their level of performance in the league, we had to change the tactics of our game. 
“They came to Port Harcourt to fight for win, but after we scored them an early goal by Sunday Adetunji, they were demoralised,” he stated.
He explained that  they went into attacking to increase the tally in the second half before they got the second goal by Paul Acquah. 
Eguma, praised his boys (players)  for their efforts. 
The tactician further explained that, after playing four straight draws recently, winning today’s, we bring back the lost glory to the team.
“I think we are good to take it from there.
 We did not take Kano Pillars for granted  for the fact that we are playing home.
We knew Kano Pillars and their tradition, we brought in a different tactics to ensure we got the result,” he disclosed.
Earlier, the Head Coach of Kano Pillars, Ibrahim Musa, stated that his team played better, but needed to improve in term of scoring goals.
“We played better but we need to improve in our goal scoring ability,” Musa said.
He said they will come back to the drawing board to correct the grey areas in the team.
