Lawmaker Tasks Bonny Youths On Peace, Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple has advised the two warring youth bodies to shield their swords and embrace peace.
Abinye gave the advice during a meeting with  Finima Youth Council and Bonny Youth Federation  in the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex recently.
Pepple noted that there had never been any  meaningful development in an atmosphere of bitterness and rancour.
He also expressed regrets over the recent crisis in Bonny and pointed out that it was an aberration.
According to him, Bonny was one of the peaceful Local Government Areas in the state and wondered why issue of local content recognition by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas NLNG would be an issue.
Further, he pointed out that there were other ways of dispute resolution rather than fighting and destruction of properties.
In his response, the Chairman, Finima Youth Council, Comrade Charles Brown, said that there was need to embrace peace.
Brown, who gave insight to the cause of the alleged crisis, said that the agitation was not against Bonny Kingdom, but for NLNG to recognise Finima Community as its host community.
Also speaking, Chairman, Bonny Youth Federation, Comrade Emmanuel Finecountry, promised to support the existing peace in Bonny Kingdom.
Finecountry maintained that the peace in the kingdom would be sustained and added that they would abide by the advice of the Lawmaker.
It will be recalled that the two youth bodies in Bonny Kingdom were recently at dagger drawn over which community should be accorded the right of a host community by NLNG base in the Kingdom.
