IAUOE More Developed In Four Years Than Ever -VC
Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE), Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, says the development witnessed during the last four years in the institution has surpassed others before it, since the university was founded in 2009.
Ndimele, who stated this at the weekend during the 12th matriculation ceremony of the school, noted that development was in terms of infrastructure, equipment and admissions.
“We have progressively increased the carrying capacity of the university. We are aggressively expanding on infrastructure to cater for the large influx of students.
“For instance, since my tenure as VC, we have built 72 classrooms/lecture spaces”, he said.
The 72 classrooms and lecture spaces, he continued, include 19 at the new education building, 10 at the new Post Graduate Classrooms, 6 at the new Undergraduate Lecture Halls, and 6 at the Auditorium Extension.
It also includes 2 large Halls at the ICTC, the Seaside Theatre for practicals, 4 large classrooms at Aguma Postgraduate Lecture Complex, one Language Laboratory at Aguma Postgraduate Lecture Complex, and 9 large Halls at the International Students’ Complex.
Others are 2 classrooms at the International Students’ Complex, an internet hall at the IDL Centre, as well as 6 large Halls and 4 studios at the Faculty of Bussiness Studies Complex.
“We can proudly say that we have built more Classrooms/lecture spaces in the past four years than the school had witnessed from inception”, he said.
In addition to these, the VC noted that virtually all equipment such as wooden benches, broken chairs, etc had been replaced with modern and state-of-the-art furniture.
Ndimele further stated that the university had currently built three new hostels, “which are the best on campus”: The Salvation Hostel, The Graduate Hostel, and The New Haven Hostel A.
The New Haven Layout of the Main campus, he said, was fully funded in 2019 and hosts such structures as the Postgraduate Hostel comprising 160 bed spaces with in-situ toilets, a 100-room capacity Salvation Female Hostel, donated by Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the New Haven Hostel A comprising 264 bed spaces with in-situ toilets, and ten units of Senior Staff toilets.
