Buhari Seeks Senate’s Approval Of N895bn Supplementary Budget
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, urged the Senate to consider and approve N895billion as supplementary budget.
The Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan, read President Buhari’s letter of request during plenary, yesterday.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had earlier approved N895billion.
A substantial part of the amount has been earmarked for the procurement of military hardware to prosecute the war against insurgency and banditry.
The Federal Government is also expected to use part of the amount for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines and other health-related needs.
It would be recalled that Buhari had in April submitted a supplementary budget to the National Assembly to request for more funds to tackle insecurity across many parts of the country.
