Rivers ICT Department Set To Train 500 Participants

The Rivers State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department says it has concluded plans to train another 500 participants in ICT.
This was contained in the training schedule of the Department made available to the public in  Port Harcourt, recently.
The schedule shows that the exercise will last for three months, accommodating all participants at a stretch.
The three-month progra-mme codenamed ‘Codegam-inator’, will include Coding, Games Development and Animations Development.
Others are Cyber Security, Database Administration (DBA), Design (UI/UX), Photography and Cinematography, as well as Hardware and Networking.
The Tide learnt that the training is expected to cost N60,000 per participant, but has already been defrayed by some companies and well meaning individuals in the state.
Meanwhile, some interested members of the public have called on the ICT Department to extend the deadline for registration by two weeks to allow more participation in the programme.
One of such persons was Mr Azuka Chukumgba, who claimed that the notice was not made public early enough.
Chukumgba pleaded that the deadline for registration should be extended by additional 14 days, using search means as an excuse.
The registration exercise was expected to have ended on April 30, 2021.
The ICT Department is, however, yet to fix the date for the commencement of the training programme.
