Eguma Savours Rivers United’s Win Over Enyimba
Rivers United boss, Stanley Eguma is satisfied with his side’s display in rescheduled matchday 11 win over Enyimba FC.
The experienced gaffer described the victory as a morale booster for his players as they moved up from 7th to 4th position on the table.
Late header from new signing Sunday Adetunji was all the Pride of Rivers needed to secure a crucial win over the side that knocked them out of the CAF Confederation Cup earlier in the season.
Rivers United are now just four points behind league leader Kwara United, going into the second stanza of the 2020-2021 campaign.
In his reaction to the result and the performance, Eguma said the boys showed improvement and also delighted with the overall performance.
“It is very important because we have added three points to our first round points,” Eguma told Tidesports source.
“We have moved some steps forward on the log. It is a good thing for us.
“It’s motivation for the players that there is still hope for tomorrow,” Eguma stated.
Meanwhile, the newly signed Rivers United forward Sunday Adetunji has expressed delight after a goal-scoring debut in the colors of the Port Harcourt-based side helping his new team record a 1-0 win against his former club Enyimba in Sunday’s outstanding Nigeria Professional Football League clash.
Adetunji who started the current season with Plateau United and a stint in the third tier with Iganmu FC was all joy returning to the Premier League and the goal will boost his morale and help him settle down at his new club.
