Coach Solicits Support For Grassroots Football
The Head Coach of Golden Boys Football Academy of Port Harcourt, Ajiji Benjamin, has appealed to corporate organizations, well- meaning individuals and the state government to assist grassroots football in Rivers State.
He stated that, grassroots football is the basis where talents can be discovered but they lack sponsorship.
Benjamin, made the appeal on Saturday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports after a friendly match with Bayeno FC at the Sharks football stadium, in Port Harcourt.
According to him, there are a lot of potentials Super Eagles players at the grassroots but there was encouragement or any form of assistance to excel from any sector.
“I saw the potentials in them so I decided to bring them together by coaching them and today they are doing well in the game.
Some of the parents are not helping matters l tell you the boys are ready for the business but some parents can not even provide boots for their children.
Football today is a lucrative business is high time parents support they kids because the glory is going will return to them,” Benjamin said.
He further explained that playing friendly matches is to give players more exposure in the game.
“ The children are more than ready to play football but they don’t have support” he stated.
