The Archbishop, Niger Delta Province and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Rev Blessings Eyin-dah, has described night curfew imposed by Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom while as timely.
Eyindah, who stated this at the weekend during the 2021 Synod of the Ikwerre Diocese held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Igwuruta, lamented the high level of insecurity in the country and called for leaders to act fast to avoid the disintegration of the country.
The Arch Bishop said although he was not part of those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria, he noted that festering violence; unabated killings, kidnapping, Boko Haram insurgency, carnage and mayhem wreaked by herdsmen as well as banditry call for serious concern among leaders.
Eyindah advised that the proactive steps taken by Governor Wike should be emulated by the Federal Government.
He said, the curfew imposed by the state government would debar criminals from gaining access to the State.
The Arch Bishop also said, Ikwerre people were pleased with the administration of Engr Samuel Nwanosike, for nipping insecurity in the bud.
He said, the security situation in Ikwerre Local Government Area deserves commendation and urged Christians to always pray for their leaders.
He condemned prosperity as preached by some clerics in spite of righteousness which he said remains the hallmark of Christianity.
In a related development, Engr Ikechi Nwofor says every citizen of Ikwerre is elated over the rapid improvement of security in all nooks and cranny of Ikwerre land.
Nwofor attributed the successful hosting of 2021 Synod of the Anglican Church in his community to the peace and sanity restored by the authorities of Ikwerre Local Government Council.
Nwofor made the observation while speaking with newsmen during the 2021 synod of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Ikwerre.
