The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, says that Governor Nyesom Wike was determined to leave behind a better Rivers State than he met it.
He said that this has underscored the massive investments in infrastructural development across the state.
The commissioner, who disclosed this during a courtesy call in his office by the leadership of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) and the organisers of the 2021 Port Harcourt International Jazz Festival, said the developmental programmes of the present administration have made the state an investors’ destination of choice.
Nsirim said, the recent gesture by Governor Wike to Grammy Award Winner, Burna Boy and the other musicians during a reception underscores the importance the governor attaches to the creative and entertainment industry in the state.
He said the gesture would spur Rivers youths to develop and harness their potentials for the development of the state.
The commissioner also said that the governor was re-launching the ‘C.4.I’ security outfit to make the state better for all.
The commissioner, who used the occasion to endorse the “Jazz in my Mind” festival, said the ministry would partner with the initiators to ensure its success, adding that the doors of the ministry were open to anyone with ideas to open up the state.
Earlier, the President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Chief Nabil Saleh, said the visit with Young Entrepreneurs of the Niger Delta, was to consolidate the existing relationship between the chamber and the ministry.
Saleh said the chamber was seeking the support of the state government towards the success of the “Jazz in my Mind” festival.
He said the festival, which holds May 1, this year, was postponed last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
