Traditional Rulers Urge Cultists To Embrace Peace
The Andoni Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council says it is making conscious efforts to bring lasting peace to the area.
To this end, the council has called on all cult groups in the area to lay down their arms and embrace peace.
Chairman of the Council, King Aaron Ikuru who said this in an interview with newsmen in his house in Port Harcourt said the council also condemned all acts of criminality including wanton killings, unwarranted incarceration or kidnappings as well as demands for ransom being perpetrated by some youths of Andoni extraction.
“By this medium, the council wishes to inform the general public that the traditional rulers have not been complacent on these criminal activities in our domain, rather conscious efforts had been made to bring peace to Andoni”.
He said the council also planned to invigorate and expand the existing peace committee headed by M.O Dick Isotu Aba-Ogwuile to include other well deserving personages that would ensure effective, thorough and quick delivery on the matter.
King Ikuru said the Traditional Rulers Council had also provided the enablement for the effective functioning of the peace committee .
He however, said the traditional rulers could not achieve much without the full cooperation and endorsement of the Andoni Local Government chairman who is the chief security officer of the area.
“In the circumstance, the Traditional Rulers Council pledges to work cooperatively with the Local Government Area Council boss to achieve a lasting peace in Andoni”.
While urging everyone Iiving within Andoni territory to go about his or her lawful duty, the traditional rulers also thanked Governor Wike for his untiring effort towards the release of King Aaron Ikuru, the Okan-Ama of Ikuru and Dr Jones Ayuwu from the hands of their abductors
“Our appreciation also goes to the Security Agencies namely the Police, the Navy, the Army and all the others that dutifully pressurised the abductors for the early release of the monarch and the University of Port Harcourt lecturer”.
