Judges Rate Courts’ Digital System High
Some judges in Rivers State have rated the State Court Management System (RivCOMis) high, sequel to its effective nature.
This was contained in a feedback and testimonial statement to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department in Port Harcourt, recently.
According to Justice Florence Fiberesima, the use of the RivCOMiS platform had been an exciting experience for her as a newly appointed judge.
Fiberesima recalled that she had always dreamt of a justice system that was simple and easily available no matter one’s location.
She hinted that with the aid of the platform, she can now access cases with ease without moving large number of files around.
The Rivers judge also hinted that the digital system had helped her in case management which she said was vital in effective service delivery.
“Being an innovation in our State, it is still work in progress but as we continue to use the platform and adjust it to meet our needs, we will overcome its teething challenges”, she said.
She scored the new digital system 85 percent and urged all users to patiently be at home with it.
In her view, Hon Justice Elsie Thompson, noted that the introduction of the e-filing system to Rivers State Judiciary was a breath of fresh air.
Thompson admitted that she was happy with the system and added that it has so far reduced the number of old and dusty paper case files handled on daily basis.
“With the necessary patience and support, the system has the potential of being world class. I would therefore, rate the system 80 percent “, she said.
The Tide learnt that the platform was part of the creation of the Rivers State Automaton Journey as powered by the state’s ICT department.
