I Am The Pound-For-Pound Best Fighter – Kamaru Usman
Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman retained his UFC welterweight title after beating Jorge Masvidal yesterday morning.
The bout took place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, the first UFC event with a capacity crowd since the Covid-19 pandemic, and 15,269 were allowed into the arena.
Kamaru had beaten Masvidal via unanimous decision last year, but the Nigerian Nightmare made sure he did better this time around as he finishes off his rival in the second round.
Usman delivered a devastating knock-out punch to send Masvidal crashing and he followed it up with several hammer fists before the referee stopped the fight.
Kamaru Usman has now beaten Masvidal twice in his career and he’s the first man to knock him out of the fight, with the latest win coming in the hometown of Masvidal who had his family in attendance.
That is 14 straight UFC wins for Kamaru Usman. Only Anderson Silva has had a longer UFC winning streak (16). It’s time to start putting Usman in some rarefied air.
“With my fundamentals, I am the pound-for-pound best fighter on the planet right now,” Usman said in his post-bout conference”.
