Group Hails Wike For Relaunching C4i
A group under the agies of BRACED Union (BU), has eulogi-sed Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike over the re-launch of special security outfit code-named C4i, last week.
This was contained in a media statement signed by its National President, High Chief Monday Wehere and made available to the press in Port Harcourt, recently.
The union noted that the outfit would enhance security performance in the state and called for all round support for its operators.
The Tide learnt that the special security unit had over 600 policemen and Civil Defence operatives.
The union, also noted that the outfit would address permanently, the recent pockets of threats of insecurity across the state, region and its environs.
Wehere, via the statement, challenged other South-South governors to emulate same, in order to make the region the safest among comity of regions across the country.
It further cautioned officers and men of the unit, to execute their mandate with care and professionali-sm, going the way of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
According to the statement, SARS started on a good footage, but deviated along the line with repeated allegations of rampant brutality and human rights abuses against the citizens it was meant to protect.
It also called on the Rivers State Government and the top brass of the Nigeria Police not to rest on their oars but ensure effective supervision of the special security unit (C4i), to enable it achieve its aims.
“This will brace up the purpose of its creation and curb crime to the barest minimum within the territorial confines of Rivers State and neighbouring borders”, it said.
