Delta Promises Exciting, Memorable 2022 NSF

After being handed the mandate to host the next National Sports Festival, NSF, next year, Delta State Government has promised to put on show a sports fiesta that Nigeria would be proud of.
Speaking on the closing day of Edo 2020, the Delta State Governor,  Ifeanyi Okowa said that Delta State will host an exciting and memorable  sports festival next year.
He stated this while receiving the flag of the National Sports Festival as the next host from the Minister of Sports and youth Development Chief Sunday Dare represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Nebolisa Anako. Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah said that the State has shown over the years that it was the home of sports and getting the nod to host the next edition of the National Sports Festival was a welcomed development.
The Governor said that Team Delta had dominated the Nigerian Sports Sector in the last two decades after winning eight of the twelve National Sports Festival it had participated in since creation in 1991.
Delta State had fought off competition from Ebonyi, Imo, Ogun, Kano and Kaduna to get the hosting rights. Governor Okowa also congratulated Team Delta for retaining the National Sports Festival trophy after garnering 158 gold, 116 silver and 110 bronze medals to beat host Team Edo which claimed 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze medals to second place.
