Cult Crisis Looms As Rival Groups Clash In Rivers Community
The people of Obele community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State may be in for another round of cult-related war, following reports of the Killing of a repentant Iceland cult leader, Chica Abita Ned, popularly called ‘Bishop’ at Obele town, last Wednesday.
He was allegedly killed by one ‘Naked’, a repentant Dey Gbam cult leader in the area.
‘Naked’ was said to be a member of the popular local security outfit, OSPAC, in Obele community.
It was learnt that the deceased, who was at Obele town, last Wednesday, had a disagreement with ‘Naked’ which resulted to the killing of the deceased, who was allegedly shot by the former Dey Gbam hitman.
The Tide learnt that tension is brewing in the community due to the killing of the high profile Iceland cult member as residents of the community are said to be fleeing for fear of reprisal attacks from the late ‘Bishop’ cult gang members.
Sources in the community said that some members of the opposing cult groups were grouping and regrouping for reprisal and counter-reprisal attacks between Dey Gbam and Iceland cult groups.
The deceased and the alleged suspected killer accepted peace deal at Ibaa community, in June, 2019 in the presence of the LGA chairman and security chiefs in the LGA.
When contacted, the spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, in a text message said, “details of the clash are still sketchy”.
