Cleric Tasks Mothers On Virtues Of Progressive Family

A cleric has described moth-erhood as a calling and a profession.
This assertion was made by Mrs Nkiruka Shalom Uba-Ohajianya in a homily she delivered at the celebration of this year’s 2021 Mothering Sunday thanksgiving service at St Nicholas Anglican Church, Woji Town, Diocese of Evo, Port Harcourt.
Preaching on the Diocesan theme, “She Looks Well To The Ways Of Her Household”, Proverbs 31: 27, Mrs Nkiruka Ohajianya charged Christian mothers to diligently focus onto the ways of members of their households including their servants as to foster peace and development in their homes and by extension, the larger society.
The preacher who is also the wife of the vicar of the church, Rev Can on Kingsley Ohajianya, stressed that women are home builders, gate keepers, intercessors and prayer warriors. Mothers according to her should also be kind hearted, industrious, accommodating, good planners and managers of human and material resources.
Mrs Ohajianya adviced mothers to engage themselves with their families in church activities rather than in things that would not edify their homes. She further advised against inappropriate dressing by mothers as not to mislead their children, unhealthy competition amongst other women on material things and needless expenditures that could ruin the home economy.
She encouraged women to emulate the sterling qualities of Biblical women like; Naomi, Dorcas, Abigail, Louis, Eunice, Esther and Samaritan woman to pattern their conducts to the glory of God and for their benefit as well as their families.
The service also featured prayers, high praise, drama sketch presentation by the children ministry, youth fellowship and women.
Some of the committee members include; Mrs Winnifred George and Lady Ibinye Promise Minimah
