Bishop Charges Committees On Diligence, Commitment
The Bishop of the Diocese of Evo, Anglican Communion, Rivers State, Rt. Rev. Innocent Uchechukwu Ordu, has inaugurated two powerful committees in preparation for the Church of Nigeria Standing Committee’s meeting, which would be hosted by the Diocese in February, 2022.
The committees were inaugurated, last Sunday in Port Harcourt.
He charged the committees’ members to show tremendous diligence, commitment and sacrifice to ensure a very successful one-week event.
A statement by the Diocese of Evo Media and Communications team, last Monday, said that, “the committees are the 104-member Central Working Committee with Barrister Bright Nda Owhor as chairman, and the 63-member Fund Sourcing Committee with Barrister Mike Ejims-Enwukwe, as chairman.
The inauguration, which took place at the All Saints’ Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, was attended by most of the committees’ members.
Ordu said the members were carefully chosen in order to deliver result.
He said the National Standing Committee meeting is a huge event that may also feature the consecration of new bishops; and the national meeting of presidents of Mothers’ Union and their executives.
According to him, “The main event, which is the meeting of the Standing Committee comprises of all the bishops of 170 dioceses in the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, and their wives plus about six other delegates from each diocese.
“We are, therefore, expecting about 1,600 delegates. We should make their visit to Evo Diocese very pleasant and memorable”, the bishop said.
Ordu said the Primate and Metropolitan of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba has confidence that the Diocese of Evo would host well.
“We cannot disappoint our primate”, he said.
The two chairmen, in their acceptance speeches, promised to do their best with their members to deliver a great event in line with the diocesan theme: “With God we shall do valiantly!!!”
