The Rivers State Government has announced the closure of vehicular traffic on the Eastern Bypass route in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area for 30 days.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie-Amadi, yesterday, indicated that the closure was “necessitated by the need to promptly execute excavation and earthworks in the ongoing road dualization project before the onset of inclement weather conditions”.
The statement reads, “This is to inform the General Public that Eastern By-Pass will be closed to Vehicular Traffic from March 24, 2021 to April 23, 2021.
“There will be no access from the Eastern By-Pass Roundabout or the Marine Base Roundabout into Eastern By-Pass.
“This closure is necessitated by the need to promptly execute excavation and earthworks in the ongoing road dualization project before the onset of inclement weather conditions.
“We apologise for all inconveniences even as we urge all and sundry to bear with us in the interest of the general good”, the statement added.
It would be recalled that the state government had recently awarded contract for the dualisation of the Eastern Bypass Road, which connects motorists from Trans Amadi, Ogbunabali, and the Nzimiro axis of Old GRA to Port Harcourt Township through Marine Base/Moscow Road to Aggrey Road.
