Police Parade Suspected Serial Rapist

Rivers State Police Command has paraded a man, Mr Belema Ibiama, who allegedly raped and robbed young ladies after he had drugged them.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, said that the suspect lured his female victims on social media with mouth-watering promises before carrying out the criminal act.
Omoni stated that the suspect was arrested when he was spotted at a popular supermarket at Ada George Road, Port Harcourt by one of his victims who raised an alarm that attracted passers-by and he was apprehended and handed over to the police.
The police image maker revealed that his mode of operation could be linked to that of a serial killer but only that he does not kill his victims.
He noted that the command has deployed technical intelligence to recover the items he had carted away from his victims while investigation is ongoing.
The suspect, Mr Belema Ibiama, who also introduced himself as Favour told The Tide that he chatted one Blessing up on social media and the lady agreed to have sex with him if he pays N20,000.
He disclosed that after they ate and had sex, the lady who had smoked ‘ weed’ slept off and he left her without paying her the agreed money and denied stealing any of her property.
Meanwhile, some of the victims in an interview with our correspondent narrated their ordeal .
Two of the victims revealed that he transferred N135,000 and N185,000, respectively from their phones.
Meanwhile, the suspect denied the allegation in an interview with journalists.
In a swift reaction, Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rivers State Chapter, Comrade Susan Serekara-Nwikhana condemned the act and called for justice on the matter.
The NAWOJ chairperson advised ladies to apply caution in all their dealings and scrutinise people they meet on social media.
Also, a representative of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Mrs Yvonne Aimiegheme, urged the police to carry out a thorough investigation on the matter and ensure that justice is served at the end of the day.
