NWL Match Day 11: Rivers Angels fc Falters At Home
Rivers Angels failed to come back from their previous 2-1 defeat, as they played a 1-1 draw with visiting Sunshine Queens of Akure in the match day 11 fixtures of the on going 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) decided yesterday at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Football Pitch.
The match which was no doubt a Dingdong affair forced the Jewels of Rivers to share points with their visitors which now placed them (Rivers Angels FC) third on the league chart as their rivals Bayelsa Queens are currently 6(six) points ahead and still leading.
Head coach of Rivers Angels FCEdwin Okon, says his team has what it takes to bounce back and will not allow the scenario to continue, saying that they will rise to the occasion and do the needful as to overcome the current challenge.
“This is football, you don’t underage any side, in this game two things are involved, you either win or you lose, but the most important thing is to bounce back from your fall and not to remain at a spot and that we must do,” Okon said.
He further said that the team would work hard to ensure that they win their next match, adding that there is still hope for the team to move forward rather than backwards
“All hope is not lost. We can still get there and we are working hard as a team to move forward, it would not be easy, but we are determined to win our next match with Nasarawa Amazon’s FC scheduled to hold at the Lafia Township Stadium, Lokoja.
Bayelsa Queens are still leading the log with 28 points from 11 matches played so far, Delta Queens are Second on the table with 23 points while Rivers Angels Fc now occupy the third position with 22 points.
