LG Polls: Consolidate Winning Streak In Obio/Akpor, Akawor Tasks Ariolu

The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State for the forthcoming Local Government elections, Barrister George Ariolu, has been given the party’s flag by the state Chairman of the PDP, Amb Desmond Akawor, with a charge to consolidate on the unity amongst members, while ensuring the sustenance of the party’s winning streak in the local government.
Akawor stated this at the state Secretariat of the party, last Monday, while handing over the party’s flag to Ariolu, in a ceremony witnessed by a large crowd of leaders, stakeholders and party faithful from Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
A statement signed by Joy Oyaghiri-Fagbemi, quoted Akawor as commending the leaders of Obio/Akpor for being united and for speaking in unison, throwing their weight behind Ariolu.
This gesture, he stated, has shown that Obio/Akpor was fully in support of PDP as an LGA, and in support of the leadership of Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, which is monumental in the success of the party at the LGA.
He urged them to continue in the stride they have periodically showcased, which will ensure the winning streak of the party in the LGA and the state, as Obio/Akpor was significant in the politics of Rivers State, especially considering the voting strength they possess.
Akawor thanked the governor for the strides he has continually taken to ensure the party was united, and for being not just project-oriented, but people-oriented as well.
He further urged Ariolu to be focused in delivering the dividends of democracy to his people, when he assumes office as the executive chairman of the LGA, by ensuring that he remains a team player.
He also emphasized that he has faith in the governance Ariolu will bring to the people of Obio/Akpor because he has always been a true party man who will follow in the strides of the governor in delivering quality projects and governance to his people.
While presenting the party flag, Akawor charged Ariolu to use the opportunity given him to serve the people of Obio/Akpor for the overall interest of all.
He said, “By the power conferred on me by the leader of our great party, Chief Nyesom Wike, I have this singular honour and privilege to hand over to you (George Ariolu) the flag of our great party, PDP, to fly in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of PDP, Rivers State, Hon Chukwuemeka Aaron, who is also a leader from Obio/Akpor, stated that the stakeholders of the LGA made the right choice by voting for the emergence of Ariolu, adding that they have faith in his capacity to deliver.
The event came to a successful conclusion when Akawor presented the party’S flag to Ariolu and his running mate, Lady Chinyeru Agbara.
