The Ogbakor Etche, the apex socio-cultural organi-sation of Etche ethnic nationality in Rivers State, has promised to support the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Friday Eboka to fight crime and criminalities across communities and villages in the area
The President General of the organisation, Sir Charles Nwonuala stated this when he led executive members, chiefs and opinion leaders of Etche ethnic nationality to pay a courtesy visit on the new CP at State Police Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, last week.
Nwonuola used the opportunity to solicit for more police presence and support in the area in tackling the insecurity challenges bedeviling the two local government areas of Etche and Omuma.
The Ogbako Etche President General appealed to the police boss not to transfer or redeploy the hard-working police officers in the area, whose efforts were contributing immensely to stemming the tide of criminality in the area.
He called for improved working relationship between the police authorities and the Etche nation’s Vigilante Group (ESPAC) especially in area of training and expressed happiness and gratitude to the Police Commissioner for the appointment of CSP Chibuike Nwogu, an Etche son as the new Commander of Anti-cultism in the State.
Also speaking, Chairman of Etche LGA, Dr Obinna Anyanwu promised to improve the working conditions of the Umuebulu police division that was destroyed during the END-SARS protest as well as working  out training programmes for ESPAC in partnership with the Police authorities for proper  orientation and to enhance their efficiency.
Responding, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Friday Eloka thanked Ogbakor Etche for what he described as a support visit to him, adding that Etche nation is the first to visit him.
He promised to work in  collaboration with the organisation and traditional institution in the area.
