Complacency Cost Edo Queens Away Point – Spokesman

Media Officer of Edo Queens FC, Ogieva Ehiosun, said that complacency cost the girls an away point in their match against Delta Queens on Wednesday in Agbor in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Woman Football League (NWFL).
Ehiosun, who spoke with newsmen yesterday in Benin, Edo, said that the Edo female team had everything going for them until resumption of play in the second half.
He noted that the girls lost the match by a lone goal scored in the second half of the game.
The media officer stressed that with the defeat, Edo Queens FC failed to live up to their promise of grabbing an away point in Wednesday’s NWFL Week 8 match.
“Edo Queens showed class and strength, giving rise to the hope of taking something positive away from Agbor, after holding the host team to goalless first half.
“The players became complacent and lost total control of the game in the second half which led to series of mistakes that gave the host team the advantage to score the only goal of the game.
“This is the second time Edo Queens are suffering defeat since the beginning of the NWFL current season,” he stated.
Ehiosun, however, promised that the team’s handlers had identified the mistakes and that hopefully, that would be corrected before their next game.
The defeat had now pushed Edo Queens back to 5th position on the log with 14 points from 8 matches.
Edo Queens would now shift their focus on their next game against Robo FC of Lagos at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Wednesday.
