AAP Candidate Tasks RSIEC On Credible Polls

The chairmanship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) Party for the April 17 local government elections in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, Comrade Iyerifama Godswill Jaja, has urged the State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to provide a level  playing ground for other parties.
 Jaja in a chat with The Tide ahead of the elections said he is vying for the office to change the leadership direction in the LGA.
“ I am coming from an activist background and I understand the yearnings of the people in our LGA. I want to cut them off from the stranglehold of godfatherism”, Jaja assured.
According to him, a change from the past is the only way the LGA can be steered out of its current doldrums.
The AA candidate lamented that over the years development had taken the backwaters because poor management of resources, adding that despite the huge human resource, Opobo/Nkoro is still struggling to compete with other  councils across the state.
With his background and experience as vice president of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Jaja said he will strive to attract government projects, noting that the NDDC and NDBDA have not sited any single project in the area for the past 10 years.
“What we have seen in the past  years is that we have had local government chairmen whose concern is to wait for monthly allocation. For how long shall we be doing that?”
In other to reverse the trend he promised that once he is voted into power he will use his network to prevail on agencies and individuals to invest in the LGA.
Asked whether he believed in the neutrality of RSIEC in the elections, Comrade Jaja said, “ It’s mere rumour that results will be manipulated, because I believe RSIEC will do the right thing.”
