2004 AFCON: I Did Not Bring Women To Hotel – Agali

Victor Agali has again denied that he brought women to the Super Eagles hotel during the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia. Agali, Celestine Babayaro and Yakubu Aiyegbeni were sent home from camp during the tournament in Tunisia for breaking camp rules by inviting women into their hotel rooms.
The trio featured in the shocking 1-0 defeat to a youthful Moroccan side in the opening group match, but were expelled from the team’s Monastir base.
Reacting to the allegation, Agali told Tidesports source, “No Holds Barred” with Ifeanyi Udeze, denied the allegations and claims he received an apology from now late Taiwo Ogunjobi, a former top ranked NFF official at the time.
“ NFF Officials lied about what happened in Tunisia, I was kicked out of the Super Eagles on false allegations,” said the former  forward.
“I remember years later Taiwo Ogunjobi, of blessed memory, called me to apologise for what happened.
“Football officials had the press at their disposal and would often use them to put out all sorts of narratives. They didn’t care how if affected the player’s, as long as it’s in line with their agenda.”
