The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has urged Rivers people to take advantage of the on-going free screening for cervical cancer in the state.
Banigo stated this in a message in Government House, Port Harcourt, to commemorate the 2021 World Cancer Day, last Wednesday.
According to the deputy governor, early detection and treatment is key to surviving cancer, adding that a cancer registry and multidisciplinary team has been instituted at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital for the effective management of cases of cancer.
It would be recalled that February 4 each year had been set aside to commemorate World Cancer Day.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “I Am And I Will”.
