Rivers CP Unfolds Six Strategic Plans To Fight Crime
The new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State Command, Mr Friday Eboka, has marshalled out six strategic and tactical security plans to fight crime and other criminalities with a promise to secure all parts of the state.
Eboka said his administration would tackle crime and criminality headlong in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in accordance with international best practices.
He disclosed this, yesterday, during his maiden press briefing on assumption of duty as the 42nd commissioner of the command at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt, saying that he would uphold the tenets of democratic policing and ensure that innocent citizens do not suffer any infraction from officers in the command.
Eboka listed the six strategic plans of his administration to include intelligence-led policing, community policing, zero tolerance for corruption, respect for human rights, credible leadership, and visibility policing, adding that his administration has no room for corrupt officers.
“This is a very good crime prevention strategy, as it is proactive. This will be re-enforced. Foot and vehicular patrols will be noticeable under my watch. HODs/DPOs are to redeploy 50 per cent of their men in admin offices on these duties”, he added.
He promised to do his utmost to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who in his wisdom, found him worthy in character and competence to be posted to the state to carry out the core mandate of the force and expand the frontiers of policing in the command.
“May I acknowledge the efforts of my predecessors, who laid solid foundation in the state.
“I sincerely promise to consolidate and build on the legacies they left behind.
“More importantly, I wish to appreciate the state government ably led by Governor Nyesom Wike, for making this possible by providing the wherewithal.
“It is hoped that his magnanimity shall be extended to my administration”, Eboka said.
He appealed to the media as the watchdog of the society and critical stakeholders in the security industry, to always cross-check their facts before going to the public, adding, that the world relied so heavily on credible information for decision-making.
