Opana Faces LMC’s Two-Match Ban
The League Management Company has slammed a match ban on Jigawa Golden Star, Gilbert Opana for improper conduct.
Opana was handed the penalty for criticising referees in a post-match conference after his side’s defeat to Kwara United last weekend.
Following the outburst, the Jigawa GS Coach has now been ordered to stay away from two-league matches and asked to pay a fine of N250,000.
“Opana’s conduct amounted to a breach of rule B6.27 (participating in post-match press conference), paragraph 7 of Appendix B: Code of Conduct for Managers and Coaches (public criticism of officials and failure to co-operate with officials involved in the game and C1.1 (misconduct) of the Framework and Rules,” LMC said in a statement.
The under fire gaffer is now expected to stay away from touch line duty from match day seven.
