WAFU: Bosso Attributes F’Eagles’ Draw To Loss Of Concentration
Coach Isah Ladan Bosso has blamed the Flying Eagles’ 1–1 draw against Cote D’ivoire at the ongoing 2020 WAFU Zone B championship on loss of concentration.
The Flying Eagles were a minute away from winning the opening Group B match, but the Ivorians canceled out Chris Nwaeze’s goal in the 93rd minute to rescue a point.
The seven-time African champions also were reduced to ten men with 15 minutes left to play with goalscorer Nwaeze sent off after two yellow cards, but Bosso believes that it was not the red card that cost his side the maximum points.
“There was loss of concentration from their own part and we got that goal and after the goal we conceded a red card and even after the red card we still played very well, the red card wasn’t that obvious. But at the dying tail of it there was loss of concentration from my defence line, so it was loss of concentration that gave them the equaliser,” He said after the match.
“ However, we’ll look at those areas that we had problems, these are not issues that we start talking to the public about because they’re internal. We’ll go back, arrange our team against the next match,” he continued.
Nigeria will lock horns with Ghana today and Coach Bosso said the match is a must win for Nigeria.
“The two of us have one point from one match and I think against Ghana we should go all the way for a win.
“If we win against Ghana; I think there’ll be no room for any compromise in the last match, and we believe that we can do it, if we can learn from this mistakes and work towards it, I think we can play better,” He said.
The winner of the WAFU U20 Zone B championship will book their place in the 2021 CAF U20 African Nations Cup.
