There Are Talented Players At The Grassroots
The head coach of Ottasolo Football Club of Lagos, Olufimi Elizah, says there is need for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) coaches to buy players from grassroots teams.
He explained that as a grassroots coach, there is a lot of talented players at the grassroots level that can play better than those playing in NPFL
Elizah, said this in a post-match interview, on Monday, shortly after his team lost to Rivers United FC 1-0 in their opening game, at the ongoing Governor Wike 2020 Pre-season Soccer Tournament in Port Harcourt.
According to him, Governor Wike pre-season tournament will enable NPFL to discover players.
“Things are not going on well in the Nigeria Professional Football system.
“You see players moved from Enyimba FC to Akwa United without buying players from the grassroots teams.
“We need players change from the grassroots to the national level.
Every fan here today can see the level of the grassroots players in action,” said Elizah
He attributed the loss of the game to poor officiating by the centre referee.
“This is our first match, by our second outing you will see more of the team,” he said.
